The Gila is the Guristas cruiser. It only uses two medium combat drones but those have a massive DPS and health buff. Their damage corresponds to twelve unbonused medium drones or six heavies (with medium drones having better application, speed, etc).

Its thermal/kinetic missile bonus applies to all missile weapons, from rockets to cruise missiles. Rapid light missiles are especially popular on Gilas but other missiles (or even no damage modules in the high slots) are not unusual.

The shield resistance bonus of up to 20% corresponds to a shield tank increase of up to 25%. This leads to an extremely strong shield tank as it also has six mid slots. In PvE, a shield regeneration tank often works out well for the Gila due to the good shield recharge time of cruisers combined with the huge HP bonus of large shield extenders.

The Gila is rather slow for a cruiser, but if fitted with an afterburner it can still dissipate a lot of incoming damage from larger weapons.

The Gila really shines in various PvE applications. It's the most popular cruiser for abyssals; it's well suited for DED 3/10 and 4/10 sites as well as anomalies; it can (solo) run missions up to level 4; and it can run low class wormhole sites. In short: there is barely any PvE content which Gilas can't do.

While people might rather think of the Gila as a PvE ship, it's also very strong as a damage dealer in PvP. It can be used solo, in small gangs, and up to medium sized fleets. While defanging Gilas is usually a hopeless endeavor due to the drone health bonus and the five sets of drones in its bay, smartbombs are still a strong counter to Gila fleets.

## Skills

The Gila generally already works well with low skills i.e. the relevant skills only at level IV or even only III. This is due to its very strong role bonus which isn't skill dependent. But still keep in mind that its performance scales with your skills and that you need good or even perfect skills for challenging tasks such as high tier abyssals.
