Command Destroyers represent a versatile addition to fleets of all sizes. Being the smallest and most agile platforms for gang link technology positions them as the premier support option for fast-moving wolf packs. Unique access to Micro Jump Field Generators also allows them to perform maneuvers that rapidly reposition other ships, be they friend or foe.

The difference between an opportunity and a disaster is relative positioning.
The Magus is the Gallente Command Destroyer. Following the Gallente design principles, it has bonuses to armor and skirmish Command Bursts. In its role to armor bursts it competes with the Pontifex which has more tank.
This makes the Pontifex preferable.
In regard to skirmish bursts it competes with the Bifrost (and to lesser extend with the Draugur). If you have shield logi support you choose the Bifrost, if armor logi the Magus. In fleets without logi, the Magus is usually passed over in favour of the Bifrost, because of its better speed.
On the other hand, the Magus is probably the Command Destroyer most suited for solo PvP as the four midslots allow for a dual prop and tackle plus either web for range control or a cap booster. The bigger drone bandwidth also means it deals more damage than the Pontifex.
Skills
Further information about additional or recommended skills to pilot Magus for a specific or its common role(s) can be written here.
Tactics
Like all Command Destroyers, the Magus provides Command Bursts and can use a Micro Jump Field Generator. See the respective pages for the tactics involved.
Notes
The command destroyers were added in the December 2015 patch, sometimes called the Frostline patch.
Magus means, in general, "magician" or "sorcerer"; English borrowed it with this meaning from Latin, which had previously borrowed it with this meaning from Greek. It is a cousin of the more commonly-used word mage. However, given the tendency of Gallente ships to draw on ancient religion and myth, it is possible that the Magus takes its name from its more specific use in Greek sources to mean a Zoroastrian priest.
